Plainlog terms of use
Effective 13 September 2026. These terms are between you and Kehr & Co. LLC, a Georgia limited liability company, the developer of Plainlog ("we"). By installing or using Plainlog you agree to them. If you do not, do not use the app.
What Plainlog is, and is not
Plainlog is a daily symptom log for people living with a chronic illness. It is a record-keeping tool.
Plainlog records what you enter and reports it back. It does not diagnose, interpret, suggest treatment, or calculate anything about medication. Trend sentences are statistics about your own entries and describe a pattern; they never state a cause. Nothing in the app is medical advice. Talk to a clinician about anything in your record.
If you think you or the person you care for may be having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number.
Your data is yours
Everything you enter stays on your device. We do not receive it, hold it or claim any right to it. Our privacy policy explains the details. Because we hold no copy, you are responsible for keeping your own backup if you need one; the app's Export everything function exists for that.
Price and purchases
Plainlog is free to use for 14 days from first launch. After that, adding new entries needs a one-time purchase of $14.99. Viewing, editing, deleting, trends and PDF export of what you have already logged never lock, whether or not you buy.
How you buy depends on where you are using Plainlog.
- In the app on a phone or tablet, the unlock is an in-app purchase sold by Apple or Google under their terms. It is tied to the store account that bought it, and you can put it back on another device signed into that same account: open Settings, tap Unlock once, then Restore purchase.
- In the web version, there is no app store, so we sell it to you directly and the seller of record is Kehr & Co. LLC. Stripe takes the payment. When it completes you are given an unlock code; that code is what unlocks the app in that browser, so keep it. If you lose it, the checkout page will show it to you again if you give the same email address you bought with.
There is no subscription and nothing renews. We will not change a one-time purchase into a subscription later. Prices are in United States dollars.
Refunds
- Bought through Apple's App Store or Google Play. Apple and Google run those refunds, not us, and we can neither grant nor refuse one. Ask through your purchase history — Apple's is at reportaproblem.apple.com. If a store refunds you, the unlock ends, but nothing you have already entered is deleted, hidden or locked.
- Bought from us in the web version. Write to hello@kehrandco.com within 30 days of buying and we will refund the whole amount, no reason needed and no questions. The money goes back to the card Stripe charged, usually within five to ten days. After a refund the unlock code stops working on new devices; everything you have already entered stays yours.
- If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, consumer law gives you 14 days to change your mind about something bought at a distance. There is an exception for digital content that starts working immediately, which an unlock does. We do not rely on that exception: the 30-day promise above is longer than the 14 days and it applies to you too.
- Nothing in this section takes away any refund right your local consumer law gives you.
Who may use Plainlog
You need to be old enough to agree to a contract where you live: at least 16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, and at least 13 anywhere else unless the law where you are sets it higher. Plainlog is a tool for an adult to use.
Licence
We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Plainlog on devices you own or control — subject to the app store's terms where you bought it from a store, and to these terms where you bought it from us. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer or resell the app, or use it to build a competing product. Please do not share or sell an unlock code; it is yours to use, not to pass on.
Acceptable use
Use the app for yourself, or for people whose information you are entitled to keep, such as a child you are the parent or guardian of, or a person you care for who has agreed or on whose behalf you are authorised to act. Do not enter other people's information without that right.
Availability and changes
We may update, change or discontinue the app. Because your data is on your device, a discontinued app keeps working as long as your operating system runs it, and Export everything gets your data out at any time. We are not obliged to provide updates, but we intend to keep the app working on current operating systems for as long as it is sold.
No warranty
Plainlog is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranty that the app is error-free, that reminders will fire, that exports will be complete, or that the app will meet any particular need. You use it at your own judgement.
Limit on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the app. Some places do not allow these limits; where that is the case they apply only as far as the law permits.
If something goes wrong
Write to hello@kehrandco.com first and give us a chance to fix it. We answer within two business days and try to finish within 30. Most problems turn out to be a misunderstanding about what the app does, and those are our fault to explain better.
There is no arbitration clause in these terms, no class-action waiver and no giving up a jury trial. If we cannot sort something out between us, the ordinary courts are open to both of us.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of that state are where we would bring a claim.
If you are a consumer, that does not take anything away from you. The mandatory consumer protection law of the country you live in still applies whatever this section says, and you can still bring a claim in the courts where you live. Where the two conflict, your local law wins.
Changes to these terms
If the terms change, the effective date at the top moves and the in-app About screen says what changed. Continuing to use the app after that is acceptance of the new terms.
